Next VCLUG meeting

The next meeting is Saturday, August 21, 2010. In Lab 8 starting at 2:00pm to 5:00pm at ITT Tech. This room in on the second floor about 1/2 half way down the hall. Should have a sign up at the door.

There is no topic or presentation so bring your machines, problems or questions and we will help you in any way we can.

Some may continue to work with LFS (Linux From Scratch). This is a great way to get to know how the Linux system works and how things are managed.
Last week we looked at two scripts written in bash to use wget to download the needed packages, patches and check the MD5sums. Both were very interesting and worth looking at. See the LFS tab at the top of the web page. Looking forward to a great learning experience installing LFS.
Here is a link for the Linux From Scratch book we will be using: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/downloads/stable/ . Would recommend the .pdf. It is not too late to get started building your own Linux system from scratch!

As always if you are new to Linux do not hesitate to come by. We will help you in anyway possible to get you going on the great adventure of learning how to use Linux. You do not need any previous experience or mastery of Linux before coming. I mostly watched and listened for a log time in the beginning. It all started making sense quickly.

Looking forward to a great meeting. After the meeting some of get something to eat. Anyone is welcome and can continue to talk about what was done at the meeting or whatever.

See you there,

Lee
